It's been so long. Bad Anna.
Today I'm playing catch up, tax, emails, phonecalls, nails! Because the last few months have been hectic! We have been making and creating delights left right and centre. There has been little time to play on the blog. But here goes.
Yesterday I adopted 3 'NEW' letters. Saved from the land fill they will have a new lease of life one day, feeling them big time, and so was everyone else as I left work, asking me are you putting them in the bin? Are you mad? Dear oh dear!
Other from the usual bin raiding Lauren and I spent last week juggling the last few days of Orange work at Peepshow and making a castle for YCN. We spent about 6 hours trying to find plastercine. Sadly it seems kids don't play anymore, just sit on their xbox or playstation. We went to 4 different Woolworths, a W H smiths, Early learning centre and a few pound shops. Eventually we found this set (such fruity colours) and then revelled in covering our mountain in the stuff. It smelt really nice too...!
I have spent a lot of time playing with Ruairi's puppy. She is called Beans and so cute I cant leave her alone! Makes me want a pet to call my own. I keep telling everyone about a hedgehog I found for sale on the gumtree. £50 for a little african hedgehog. Apparently it was 2 years old and not getting along with the owners baby! It was so sweet. But my room is to full of stuff for any pets just yet. Maybe when I move to somewhere bigger everyone can come check my city farm all adopted from the gumtree.

A General Tip-off.
Today proved that I should never dress too fancy when I don't know where my day might take me. My soft new black jazz pumps and sparkly gold jumper wouldn't be my normal choice of outfit for skip-raiding but when you get a tip-off like we did, I'm not one to give a shit about breaking a nail or similar (actually funnily enough Anna did break one today on our mission). So we found a skip of mannequins...Or more like a skip of many ideas and dreams that awill finally come to life. Funnily enough Nick at YCN had tipped us off earlier about a project through YCN which sounds RATHER exciting. If you're reading this Nick...are you thinking what we're thinking? Mannequin legs? Maybe not but oh well. So yeah by the time I got home very late tonight, I looked slightly suspicious carrying various limbs and packaged heads into my house in the pouring rain...I am now utterly bedraggled and in need of my bed, which I can confidently say I will not be sharing with a mannequin or two, like those freaky doll-lovers. I gave them the sofa. Oh dear. a shock for the household when they awake too. I just hope the film 'Mannequin' wasn't based on a true story...

Best Cards EVER!
Never be my boyfriend or I WILL send you fabulous tat to junk-up your life. I found THESE little wonders today in my new favourite shop, which Anna and I seem to be visiting on an average of three times a week. The dusty archives have just got a new lease of life. You just wait for the lovely little Christmas treats we have in store. How could we resist when we have discovered a shop full of forgotten bygones, which will not be bygones because we have bought them all.

Party Time
What a ridiculous(ly amazing) print for a jumper. A weekend of wedding celebrations and a jumper to fit it, found in a supermarket in Killarney. Yes mate.

New things
My Mum went on holiday and got back today, she brought me gifts.... She asked what I wanted and I said just have a little look for some jokes old magazines. She knows how much I love 50's graphics and I can't belive what she brought back for me. Loads of inspiration. Looks like I'm having a quiet night in with my new old things.

A slection of 1960s mags with some strange old adverts in them.

This crac gun is so cool. What a great little toy.

I feel refreshed by the whiteness!
At least when Anna finishes her project she can have a good clear out...although they are pretty, I am not too sure how useful a large Sara Moon print in a (amazingly kitsch) hideous 60s frame, a broken dressing screen covered in peeling Victorian decoupage and a little Sunrise mini-organ with rainbow keys, fake wood veneer front and the most beautiful logo, are going to be when i am done and dusted with uni! I am not even sure the organ works as I haven't tried fitting batteries yet but it is extraordinarily beautiful! I have had some serious offers for it already and I only picked it up at the Sunday market two days ago for £7! Bargain. I can't seem to upoad any images at the moment so you'll just have to wait for the final images...watch this space x

A present in the post...
A little present arrived in the post for me before the weekend. Thank you Cat xxx you know me so well...it must be from the 60s. My place is definitely in the kitchen until the novelty wears off!

My little love seat

I have a little love seat that I bought in the Hamptons, New York, for $45 (that's about £22!) It is original late 60s/early 70s and fully hand emboidered. The problem is...it is still in the Hamptons being looked after by two little old ladies. How do I get it back...?

Oh...my pretty things.
Below are some of my favourite things. I treasure the little things in life that inspire me. Markets, car boot sales, junk shops- love 'em. Always a treasure to be found. I collect kitsch jewellery (particulary brooches) and hair slides and combs. I love hearts, bows, clouds, rainbows, ice-creams and paint palettes. I Love plastic, irredescent, glittery things. I also collect original psychedelic books, posters, mags, pots and random objects.
Yesterday I made slides of some of my favourite possesions/patterns and did a photoshoot, projecting them on to a lovely model called Sarah who is perfect in them. It was soooo much fun and three of the images have a real 60s/70s quality to them. Result. I am pleased and will continue to keep producing in this manner. To see them, you will have to come to my degree show in Brighton on 1st -7th June or our show in the Truman Brewery 7th-12th June. We have the lovely Bridge gallery and will be putting on a PHAT party somewhere near on the opening night, with the help of the wonderful James Suckling. It is ages away...but that is my life at the moment. Plan, plan, plan. Forward thinking, work, work, work. I love it.
p.s anyone that finds me a plastic colourful, paint palette brooch gets a seriously cool present and maybe a medal, trophy and rosette. Get hunting people. My birthday is in November and that is my next planning session. Only joking.
A few from the collection. I have outgrown my jewellery box.
A kids clock puzzle I found at Columbia Road Flower market before Christmas. If you haven't been to Columbia Road-GO! It's one of the best things to do in London.
A poetry book from '67. Stumbled across it randomly on ebay after looking for it for 3 years! The image is a wraparound book cover that I scanned and joined up on photoshop.
A page from a Dracula annual from around 1970 I have never been able to find any info on it. Bought it for 1 nugget in the Sunday market. You should see the rest of it! Even Dracula was brainwashed by the orgies of the Sexual Revolution!
A couple of paint palettes... I also have a 60s table in the shape of a palette...
That is it. Maybe you are bored. Maybe you want to be sick. Maybe you have just developed a passion you didn't know existed....
