I made some post cards today. They are for a RCA show where you don't know who the post card is done by untill you buy it. I made one inflateble, after a long day at work I'm sure it's taken me longer than it should have to do this! They all have the pound shop in common! I knew buying all these bits and bobs had a reason! Long live the magpie inside me.

Whoooo

Don't you just love it when you meet people who are on the same wavelength and you sit and talk through ideas for a project and it feels a bit like there is magic in the air. Well that's what happened yesterday when Anna and I went to meet up with Chloe Richardson (Stylist) and Julia Kennedy (Fashion Photographer)...Even if I was totally hungover, with a bruise the size of a large fried egg on my leg and no recollection as to how I got it. I am fairly certain that a big adventure is about to begin...

Call me 'No Blogs'

Jamie Jongo's painty room of fun. We had to borrow his shoes to then change it from Francis Bacon-esque studio to a photography studio. We got busy with diamonds, New Era and old skool Transformer wrapping paper to create a flyer for a friend's night at Corsica Studio on 26th June. Tis gonna be heavy. Watch this space for pictures.

Since then we have been working with the lovely Chrissie Macdonald from the Peepshow Collective on a very exciting project that I will post more up about when it comes out. Getting busy in our temporary studio near Brick Lane also includes making quick felt headbands and making our legs into hotdogs.

I just got back from Brighton where I have spent the weekend, sorting stuff my other house-full of junk out and generally trying (unsuccessfully) to switch off. I am pretty sad that Annie is finishing up in Brighton now- it is the end of a very happy era. On the other hand though, the start of a very exciting new one in London. Someone writes their 'N's' funny!

In between the madness of Nike and the other job we are working on I have been playing around with some new collage ideas. Not sure why or what for but hey. If you can't switch off then switch it up instead.

You can also catch us there tomorrow from 3pm doing a 'Live Drawing'(!?!) event with the lovely Lucy Butler. Wow. My first blog in yonks. Lets hope it is not so long until the next...

Selma's House

If you have been keeping up to date with our blog you might remember me mentioning a photoshoot we did in Selma's house. The developing has taken a while as I waited to get them done by my trusty guy in Brighton. I am really exctied by the results and the project has sparked of loads of new ideas for films and other shoots. Before you see the photos, let me tell you the story:

On our travels, we stopped in Sarajevo for the night and found ourselves staying in a wonderful treasure chest. The woman who rented us the room (for something like £10 for all of us) opened the door wearing a full maroon, velour tracksuit. She was smoking a long straight and had dark-red hair. Her low, husky voice was undoubtedly a tribute to a lifetime of chain smoking- overall, Bosnia's answer to Dot Cotton. She showed us the room and Anna and I looked at each other in disbelief. Project. Half an hour later she told us she was going out to a local festival with her friends. In a short conversation with much sign language and guide-referring she told us to make ourselves at home. That we did, wearing her clothes and accessories in her kitsch playground of a home. She arrived back and came into the room to give us more sheets just after we had finished putting everything back in its place. Annie, Danni and Anna ran into the shower/loo and hid there giggling whilst I stood there in a skimpy, gold swimsuit pretending we were getting ready to go out. Part of us felt terrible as she was so lovely but the other part thought that if she had known about it, she may well have got involved! This is the (tame part of the) tale we (just) lived to tell...

I almost forgot...

These are some (pretty bad) photos of photos Anna and I took whilst we were away... we only found out on our way to Bosnia that derelict buildings often still have landmines in them...ooops. Will upload them properly when we have the negs scanned.

Thinking Out Loud...

I was going to completely change this project into a black and white, poetry book with simple line-drawings to illustrate Annie's poetry. Now I have all the images up, in order, in front of me, I think I may have changed my mind...

the story so far

I think I have gone a bit crazy , anyone want something white?

room 101

It's been a while... I have been busy working (and partying) While Lolli has been getting pretty things I have been sucking the life out of all the pretty things I own. I think I've started tripping out because of the fumes in my room, better find somewhere else to sleep quicktime! When i have finished this degree I'm investing in pretty things only and I never want to see another can of white paint as long as I live. Oh yeah does anyone have any sugestions for removing gloss paint without white sprit? I'm worried my hand will stick to my hair when I'm asleep...
P.S Who is that ugly geezer behind me and lauren on the photo? Answers on a postcard please...

San francisco...Party Central!

Evidence that San Francisco was not only fun but slightly productive too...! Anna, Ness, Jess and I are currently in the process of compiling a little book of the best polaroids from the week. We went and visited Micheal Gillette, Hannah Stouffer (and Birdstand), The Small Stakes, Ideo and Hybrid Design. The visits were far more inspiring than my first time in San Fran and they were quite diverse. Similarly to New York, I was really pleased to see that the little books and gig posters that are produced by artists have a really beautiful hand-made feel. Screen-printing is still used loads and it makes everything I was given and collected to bring home more precious. Really made me want to draw more and I have lots of ideas for little self-promotion packages etc. bit of a reality check on the last day as I knew I was coming back to my exam project and had fully been indulging in a bit of escapism but IT'S ALL GOOD IN THE HOOD!

Anyone planning to go to San Fran soon check out Amoeba Music, Needles and Pens (bookshop), Giant Robot (gallery), Super 7, Harputs (for old school Adidas and other rare vintage classics at BARGAIN prices, Mel's diner, El Taqueria (delicious, cheap Mexican Food in the Mission), Mission Dolores Church, Creativity Explored, clam chowder in a sourdough bowl at pier 39, Haight Costume shop(lower Haight), Buena Vista Park for incredible views, Dotties true Blue Cafe (didn't go but heard it was amazing) Yerba Buana Centre....blah blah blah. the thrift stores are amazing too expecially in Mission.

Will add some more photos soon x

Janey Mae

It's been a while since I have been on here. Been well slack...but had my assesment at uni and now I am getting on it in school! Took my first colour medium format film yesterday. It was a beautiful day and I got Janey to come up to Tarner Land and be my model. What a beauty she is. Don't pick them up until later but I am well excited...hope they even come out! The polaroid is hopefully a little sneak preview. Been playing around in the studio more with projections and I am making a book and doing a spoof project with Anna on Cosmetic surgery which should be fun...lots on...all fun and games.

Sooner than this time xx

Studio malarchy

I have been messing about with light, patterns and a lovely model called Sarah. This is what I came up with but now I am not sure where to go next! I wasn't going to post these images but I am stuck. Jasper has taught me some brilliant re-touching tips so they look pretty crisp now but I have been looking at them too long....bleurrrgh. Work into them? Use them in collage? take soem more adventurous shots (get a good photographer?!), Combine the clothes in the shot more? I loved being in the studio. I love playing with composition. Love bright colour... Anyone out there who has objective opinions and can give me some inspiration?! (Click on image to enlarge)
